Keep It Fancy

Last week I told the King Daddy in my family that Nicki and I wished to update our blog and make it look "fancier".  To my delight, I came home last night to a new and updated blog look.

Oh it is so fancy!

Hooray for my uber talented and computer savvy King Daddy!

Hot Day= Great Day For Some Dry Ice Fun!

Here in the world of practically perfect princesses we continue to try to find fun ways to entertain children indoors during the summer months. We have something super cool that is perfect for children of all ages and we promise they will think  Queen Mommy or King Daddy are awesome for coming up with this one!

Make a stop at your local grocery store and pick up a bag of dry ice. Make sure to take a cooler along to keep the ice from evaporating.

Put the dry ice in a bucket and make sure the kiddos know not to touch the ice. Then add some hot water to the bucket and watch the fog roll off.

I gave the kids cups so they could catch the fog and watch it evaporate.

You may have to continue to add hot water as the fog starts to lessen down.

Now here is the surprise part that the children will not be expecting, but will love. Have them add some dish soap, the kind you use every day and then watch and enjoy what happens!

Rebekah Grace Gets Reviewed At Home Maid Simple

We are so pleased to read the review of Rebekah Grace at  Home Maid Simple and we are especially excited when we hear that other little Princesses enjoy the book!

About the Book:  Rebekah Grace is a charming 3 year old trying to learn the Princess Rules. There are a lot of Princess rules though, and sometimes it's hard to remember them. I love what the authors have to say about their book "Why is she only practically perfect? ALL little girls are Princesses, no matter who they are, but that doesn't mean they have to be perfect.  Sometimes, even Princesses make mistakes."

About the Authors: Sisters Jennifer and Nicki are former princesses turned Queen Mommies raising princesses of their own. Jen began the book without hope of it ever being published, when Nicki jumped aboard and decided together they would make this book available for all practically perfect princesses and their Queen Mommies. Jennifer is Queen Mommy to 2 Princesses and a Prince, while Nicki is Queen Mommy to 2 Princes and a Princess.

My thoughts: I just love this book. The cute drawings pull you in to the fun life of Rebekah Grace. The story line is simple and perfect for my little Princesses, but the pictures add so much more to the story that is not written. I could easily relate to many of the situations Rebekah Grace found herself in as she tried to learn the Princess Rules.

What did the Princesses think? They loved it. They thought Rebekah Grace was cute, and enjoyed laughing over her little antics.

This book is perfect for newborns and up!

Bravery and Princesses

A few weeks ago Nicki and I had the opportunity to visit with some very special people in TMC's pediatric wing. We had great fun and left a copy of the book for others to enjoy during their stay in the hospital.

We were excited and surprised to wake up to the following story this morning Tucson's Police Chief on Bravery (and Princesses). Thanks to TMC for sending this our way!

"Villasenor participated in the Fathers Read series at Tucson Medical Center, designed to promote literacy and to encourage men to get involved in their children’s education.

Courageously,he made the bold decision to change books in mid-stream to make sure the youngsters connected with the material – an important lesson for anyone reading to kids.

Showing tremendous valor, he started to read from “Rebekah Grace, The Practically Perfect Princess,” by local authors Jennifer Humphries and Nicki DiCampli.

“I have to swear you all to secrecy, though, that I’m reading a princess book,” VillaseƱor joked, adding that the other cops weren’t going to be impressed."

Yes, even police officers should learn to do a  proper princess wave!

The story was also covered in the online Blog for the Arizona Daily Star.

Three cheers for brave princesses and princes everywhere!

Summer Oh Summer!

Where Nicki and I live the temperature is a nice and toasty 100+ degrees. So needless to say in order to survive the summer months many families adopt a bucket list that includes swimming, early morning/late evening outings and loads of fill- in indoors time with crafts and activities. A few of you might be experiencing this same type of summer "survival" plan.

Thought I would share some of the pics for some cute crafts we did yesterday. The crowns come in a pack from Micheal's and the cardboard, well that is free for someone who is in the process of moving or  those who are brave enough to do a little dumpster diving for boxes behind their local grocery store.

Yes indeed, practically perfect. Cowboys and princesses!

Rebekah Grace Gets Reviewed Over At 7 Kids and Counting

We are super excited by the review that The Practically Perfect Princess received over at
7 Kids and Counting

Here is an excerpt from the complete review:

"It has been sometime since I have enjoyed a child's story book as much as my children did, but I can honestly say, I loved The Practically Perfect Princess just as much as my little practically perfect princesses did :-) This is such an adorably sweet book. The Practically Perfect Princess belongs in every little girls' (princess') home library."

Nicki and I are so very happy that this book is being enjoyed by other princesses and we loved the pics that the "7 Kids" folks shared.

Exciting News!!

Make sure to head on over to the 7 Kids and Counting blog and enter the giveaway for a chance to win a Practically Perfect Princess tee-shirt for your little princess!

To be or not to be a bunny?

Most of you know that Nicki and I gather most of our material for our Practically Perfect Princess books from our own experiences as mothers. Let me fill you in on a little development that we think is just too funny.

My preschooler, Rebekah, is the flower girl for her cousin Erica's upcoming wedding in July. Last month Rebekah debuted as a bunny/circus girl in her first ever dance performance. She still talks with great relish about the stage and the big lights. Flash forward a month, Rebekah comes to me and says that she is ready to be a flower girl and that we will not "even have to buy her a new dress". What dress is she suggesting she wear to the wedding? Here's a little peak.

You can't see the bunny tail, but it's there and I assure you it is part of her overall fashion plan for the wedding.

Now here is the dress we all suggest that Rebekah should wear for the wedding.

Needless to say, she remains unconvinced.

In an effort to distract her from her desire to show up as a bunny to the wedding we went looking for princess dresses yesterday. After we had tried on quite a few, Rebekah looked at me very seriously and said although all of these were lovely none of them were pink and just weren't as pretty as her bunny costume.

Um yeah about that, I'm pretty sure your cousin isn't going to want a bunny preceding her down the aisle throwing rose petals.

Stay tuned and we'll fill you in on the "bunny business" as it is now known in our family.
