Blog Hopping Coolness

The Queen Mommies are super excited to be co-hosts for our first ever Bloglovin Hop with the fabulous Jenny from The NY Melrose Family and some other great gals! Hope you can join in on the fun.

Jenny from The NY Melrose Family, Barb from Second Chance to Dream, Jacqueline from The Detox Diva, Tabby from Shipwrecked on Fabulous Island, Kimberly from Here's What I Think About That, Jennifer and Nicki from Practically Perfect Princess, Stephanie from The Slogans, Ang from Juggling Act Mama, Niki from Glossy Blonde and Jaime from Mom's Test Kitchen for the month of August.

Some background from Jenny: What's Bloglovin' you ask? Well, only the greatest way to keep track of the blogs that you love. With the discontinuation of Google Friends Connect (GFC) for non-blogger blogs like myself, I decided that I needed to find another way to keep up with all of my favorite blogs that are not hosted by blogger. I stumbled upon Bloglovin' and I am in love! It is very similar to Google Reader, in that you can see the beginning of the post and the first picture attached to the post. Plus, Bloglovin' automatically updates your posts. Another added bonus is there is a Bloglovin' application for IPhone and Android devices. Woohoo! Like I don't spend enough time reading blogs. Now it's a simple touch. Love it!

In order to participate in this hop, you need to have Bloglovin set up for your blog. You can find a super easy tutorial here. I promise it'll take you less than 10 minutes and you'll thank me down the road.

There’s only a couple of rules:
1. Please follow your host – The NY Melrose Family and your co-hosts Second Chance to Dream, The Detox Diva, Shipwrecked on Fabulous Island, Here's What I Think About That, Practically Perfect Princess, The Slogans, Juggling Act Mama, Glossy Blonde and Mom's Test Kitchen (They are the 1st ten blogs linked)

2. You MUST link up your Bloglovin' url to participate

3. Post our button for the blog hop on your page to promote the fun. You can grab the button from my sidebar. The more the merrier so shout outs about the party on Twitter or Facebook would be greatly appreciated.

If you're interested in co-hosting next month shoot me an email at russej10{at}gmail{dot}com. I also have some sponsor spots still available for September, which you can find here. Alright, so let's have some fun and mingle! Please remember to ONLY link up your Bloglovin URL.

Princess Pillow Reminders

I thought this was just too funny and wanted to share it with all of you.

Last night as I wearily dragged myself into bed I was greeted by this precisely placed event announcement on my pillow. I guess my little Princesses think attending would be a good idea.

Have you ever found something your children precisely placed on your pillow ?

Growing Up

This week I sent my school aged children off for a new school year. Luckily I have my little preschooler Rebekah at home with me for one more year.

I feel as anxious as they do at the start of a new school year. They are so excited and nervous. I know school will be fun for them with new people and fun experiences, but  I also know how mean kids can be to each-other and have had my heart sink as I hear the stories of what they have experienced.

I learned long ago that motherhood means wearing your heart outside of your body.

I saw this poem on a friend's blog and it sums up exactly how I feel every year when I send them off to school.

Host your own! Now if you can't come all the way to Tucson on Saturday here are some fun ideas for you and your princess to have a tea party of your own at home!

My little people and I are frequent tea party hosts. Here is some of the fun things we do.

1. We usually start by making a batch of sugar cookies to decorate at the party. Here's my recipe it is Princess approved and yummerlicious!

Fluffy and soft sugar cookies
*This recipe is large . If you only want to make a few cookies it can be put in the freezer for later use.
1 cup margarine/butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. milk
3 eggs
Combine margarine, sugar, vanilla, milk and eggs. Cream together.

Sift the following together:
4 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Once sifted add flour mixture to the cream mixture and mix well. I usually refrigerate for about half an hour. During this time the kids and I make the colored frosting to go on top and get all of the sprinkles we will put on top ready.

Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and use your favorite cookie cutters . Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.

2.  Now it's time to decorate the table up with fancy china and a tablecloth. If your princess is too little to use the breakables then use a plastic princess tea set. For extra seats at the table I usually let the kids bring out their favorite stuffed friends.

3.  Make some pink lemonade and put it in the fridge to start cooling.

4. Now go get dressed "fancy". My older children forbade me from sharing their dress up creations. We have had smurf kings, rocker princesses, bunny princesses. This is the funnest part for me!

5. Time to party! Bring out the cookies and punch.

Hope to see you out on Saturday, but if not we hope you do have a tea party with your princess! Make sure to send pics!

New Practically Perfect Princess Review and Giveaway!

Read the newest review of the Practically Perfect Princess from Michelle at Mama's Baby Cupcakes and then make sure to head on over to her site for a chance to win a Practically Perfect Princess tee shirt!

This is a great book for little girls because it talks about manners, helping out, and listening to your parents.

Madison loves this book so much. We've read it almost every day since we first got it in the mail a month ago. She's to the point now where she can "read" the book herself because she has it memorized.

It's not a really long book which is also nice because kids don't have a long attention span, but just long enough to get the point of the book across and keep your child entertained.

I also really like the illustrations. Rebekah Grace is quite the cutie pie, and she pops out of each page as the main feature so she's easy to spot.
Madison is already asking me when their next book will come out because the last page.

Madison went to preschool last year and is doing an advanced kind of pre-k this year so she loves anything about schools so the thought of a book about Rebekah Grace going to school makes her giggle

You can also get this cute shirt to go with the book! This shirt just makes the book that much better! When Madison opened the package and this shirt fell out, she was thrilled! She immediately wanted to try it on and prance around in it.

The only thing is that Madison tugs on this little piece of tulle that is sewn on to the shirt. I love this little effect because it adds that extra flair to the shirt and it washes great as well.

Overall, I highly recommend this book and shirt for the little princess in your life!
